Giulia Mattavelli
Giulia Mattavelli is senior researcher of Psychobiology and Physiological Psychology at the Institute of Advanced Studies (IUSS) of Pavia. She graduated in Clinical Psychology and Neuropsychology in 2008 and she obtained her PhD in Experimental Psychology, Linguistics and Neuroscience at the University of Milano-Bicocca in 2013. In the same university she worked as postdoctoral fellow (2014-2019). Her main research interest concerns how emotions are represented and processed in the human brain and she investigates these questions with multiple techniques ranging from behavioural experiments with healthy and clinical populations to researches with neurostimulation and neuroimaging techniques as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation combined with Electroencephalography (TMS-EEG), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI). She is also interested in the application of non-invasive neurostimulation techniques as therapeutic tool in eating disorders and in different clinical population.
